DocsMD™ is committed to ensuring our platform, websites, and communications are accessible to all users, including individuals with disabilities. We strive to provide an inclusive experience that complies with applicable accessibility standards.
Our Standards
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, cognitive, and motor impairments.
We also work to comply with applicable provisions of:
- Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
- Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act
- State and local accessibility laws
Accessibility Features
Our websites and dashboards include the following accessibility features:
- Semantic HTML markup for screen reader compatibility
- Sufficient color contrast for text readability
- Keyboard navigation support throughout the interface
- Descriptive link text and meaningful page titles
- Alt text for informational images
- Responsive design that adapts to a range of screen sizes and zoom levels
- Scalable text that respects user font size preferences
- Form labels and ARIA attributes where appropriate
SMS & Text Message Accessibility
Patient communications via SMS are designed to be accessible:
- Plain, clear language appropriate for general audiences
- Clear instructions for replies (YES, CANCEL, BOOK, STOP, HELP)
- No reliance on color or images to convey information
- Practices may configure messages in additional languages on request
Patients with hearing impairments or who prefer not to receive text messages can reply STOP to opt out, or contact their practice to arrange alternative communication methods.
Ongoing Improvement
Accessibility is an ongoing effort. We regularly review our platform for accessibility and address issues as they are identified. We welcome feedback from users with disabilities to help us improve.
Known Limitations
While we strive to ensure accessibility, some content may not yet be fully accessible. Known limitations include:
- Third-party embedded content may not always meet WCAG 2.1 AA
- The website includes a custom cursor effect that is disabled on touch devices and can be overridden by browser/OS settings
- Some legacy documents (PDFs) may have accessibility limitations
We are actively working to address these limitations.
Assistive Technology Compatibility
Our platform is designed to work with major assistive technologies, including:
- Screen readers (JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, TalkBack)
- Screen magnifiers
- Voice recognition software
- Keyboard-only navigation
- Browser zoom up to 200% without loss of content or functionality
Reporting Accessibility Issues
If you encounter an accessibility barrier on our platform, please contact us. We will work to resolve the issue and provide the requested information or service in an accessible alternative format where possible.
When reporting an issue, please include:
- A description of the issue
- The URL of the page where the issue occurred
- The assistive technology, browser, and operating system you are using
- Your preferred method of contact
We aim to respond to accessibility reports within 5 business days.
