DocsMD vs Adit: a revenue engine vs an all-in-one practice platform

Adit bundles phones, texting, forms, scheduling, payments, insurance work, analytics and AI agents into one platform for dental, optometry, chiropractic and orthodontic practices. DocsMD is a Patient Revenue Engine that does one thing: recover the revenue a practice is losing and prove it. Here's how they compare, based on what each publishes.

Key takeaways
  • Adit is an all-in-one platform: VoIP phones, texting, email, eFax, forms, scheduling, payments, insurance verification and claims, analytics and AI agents.
  • Adit doesn't publish subscription prices, but its terms list usage allowances and overage fees, such as $0.03 per extra text on the Freemium plan.
  • Adit's pricing page and its Terms of Use describe commitment differently, so confirm the term in writing.
  • DocsMD publishes a flat per-location price with no per-message fees and itemizes every recovered visit.

What Adit is

Adit, operated by Adit Communications, Inc., is an all-in-one practice platform. It combines a VoIP phone system, patient texting, email, eFax, internal chat and a mobile app, digital forms, online scheduling, reminders and recall, review management, tasks, analytics and treatment plans, payments through Adit Pay and CareCredit, insurance verification, claims, payment posting and denial management, a lead CRM, and digital marketing services.

Its AI tools include an AI Front Desk agent for after-hours and missed calls, AI Call Intelligence that listens to calls to recover missed bookings and score staff performance, an AI web chat agent, and AI Recare, listed as coming soon. Adit's homepage says it is trusted by more than 5,000 practices.

Adit lists four industries: dental, optometry, chiropractic and orthodontics, plus an enterprise offering for DSOs. Its integrations page names systems such as Dentrix, Open Dental, Eaglesoft, Curve Dental, CrystalPM, RevolutionEHR, ChiroTouch, Jane, Cloud9 and Dolphin.

What DocsMD is

DocsMD is a Patient Revenue Engine for independent practices. Rather than replacing the phone system or adding another inbox, it runs a loop around the clock: detect revenue at risk, decide what to do, act, and prove the result. It covers missed calls, cancellations, no-shows, overdue patients and insurance gaps, and its Patient Lobby™ catches walkouts.

It works alongside the EHR from the schedule export the system already produces, with no installation or system access. Bookings are handed to the front desk to enter, and DocsMD Hold blocks can reserve times in the EHR.

Side by side

  • Pricing. Adit doesn't publish subscription prices for its packages; its pricing page directs practices to a demo. Its Terms of Use do list usage allowances and fees: on Freemium, 500 texts per location then $0.03 per text, and $2 per extra phone number; on the Tech and Analytics Bundle, unlimited VoIP minutes and one-to-one texts and emails, with $0.01 per text for mass campaigns. DocsMD is $1,149 per location per month, or a $699 Founder Rate for the first five practices in each metro, locked while subscribed, with no per-message or per-user fees.
  • Contract. Adit's pricing page says its tech packages have no binding contracts and refers to a one-year Performance Marketing Program commitment. Its Terms of Use describe automatic renewal, 30-day written notice to terminate, no refunds for contracted services, and conditions on refunds of annual upfront payments. Ask which applies to your package. DocsMD uses a 12-month agreement with a Recovery Guarantee.
  • What it does. Adit aims to be the practice's communication and operations hub. DocsMD is a focused layer that recovers revenue and proves it.
  • BAA. Adit's Terms of Use say clients and Adit agree to be bound by a Business Associate Agreement. DocsMD signs a BAA with every practice before any patient data moves, including for the free leak audit.
  • AI approach. Adit's AI agents answer calls, analyze calls and score staff. DocsMD keeps most patient replies on numbered menus that never reach an AI model, limits texts to the practice name, times and choices, and never uses patient data to train AI.
  • How results are measured. Adit's homepage cites platform-wide figures such as 150,000 appointments booked by AI. DocsMD itemizes each recovered visit for your practice by patient, date, action and dollar amount weekly, and guarantees at least 2x its fee each month or the next month is free.

How to estimate usage fees before they arrive

Usage-based pricing is normal in phone and texting platforms, and Adit is clear about its allowances in its terms. The practical step is to estimate your own usage before you choose a plan.

Here's illustrative math using the Freemium allowance of 500 texts per location. A practice that sends 1,400 texts a month, counting reminders, confirmations and two-way replies, would be 900 texts over, or $27 at $0.03 each. That's small. But a recall campaign to 3,000 overdue patients could add more in a single month, and extra phone numbers, tracking minutes and payment processing (2.25% plus $0.20 card-present; 2.9% plus $0.30 card-not-present under Adit Pay) each have their own line.

Ask any vendor for a sample invoice for a practice your size. It's the quickest way to see the real monthly number.

One platform or a focused layer?

There's a real case for consolidating. One vendor for phones, texting, forms, payments and insurance means one bill, one login and one support line, and Adit advertises that it can cut software costs. The case for a focused layer is different: the tool is accountable for a single outcome, it doesn't require switching your phones or EHR, and it can be measured cleanly against its fee.

Adit is likely the better choice for a dental, optometry, chiropractic or orthodontic practice that wants to replace several vendors with one platform, including its phone system, and is comfortable with a broader implementation.

DocsMD fits independent practices in any specialty that want to keep their current phones and EHR, add a layer accountable for recovered revenue, and see the result itemized every week. Medical and physical therapy practices, which Adit doesn't list, are part of DocsMD's core market.

Questions to put to any vendor

  1. Which contract document governs my package, and what are the term, renewal and notice rules?
  2. Can I see a sample invoice for a practice with my patient volume?
  3. Do promotional free items continue if I renew or change plans?
  4. Will you sign a BAA before any patient data moves?
  5. Do your AI tools record or analyze calls, and how is that data stored and used?
  6. Which report shows dollars recovered for my practice specifically?
How DocsMD handles this

DocsMD runs alongside the phone system and EHR you already have, starting with a free leak audit of your schedule export under a signed BAA. Once live, every recovered visit is itemized weekly at one flat price per location, with at least 2x your fee guaranteed each month or the next month free.
